A 31-year-old Kirkland Lake resident has been charged with sex crimes involving a minor.
On July 12, 2021, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a sexual assault incident which occurred in late 2019, in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old person, from Kirkland Lake, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Sexual Interference, contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code (CC) (Two Counts)
- Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 271 of the CC (Two Counts)
The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
