Town council has passed a bylaw which will allow the sale of the property at Four Government Road West, which is beside what is commonly known as the Park Lane.

In a report to council, Manager of Planning and Land Management Ashley Bilodeau stated “The property was vested into the Town’s name in June 2008 and the building was demolished shortly thereafter. The property was declared as Surplus Land on July 16, 2019.

“The property is irregular, with approximately 100 feet of depth and 47 feet of frontage. There has been no other interest in the property.

The report goes on to say “The interested party has recently purchased Two Government Road West (municipally recognized as Park Lane). They have begun cleaning the site, and intend to reconstruct the building and open a hotel. They are interested in acquiring 4 Government Road West to accommodate additional parking.

The report adds “There is revenue of $3,500 associated with the sale of this property. All legal and transfer costs are to be borne by the purchaser.”
