Portable toilet trial to end early

The Kinross Park port-a-potty trial will soon come to an end. Earlier this summer council discussed placing the portable toilet at the park after a number of local citizens, mainly seniors, asked council to consider their request.

After weighing the pros and cons council agreed to a 60 day trial.

Council budgeted just over $3800 for the trial. However there was a cost overrun due to the fact they added a hand wash station after a recommendation from the health inspector. Therefore the trial will end when the budget runs out, which will fall far short of the 60 days.

In a report to council, staff stated there has been no vandalism and there has been no drug paraphernalia found inside or around the facility, which were two of the biggest concerns from council.

Once the trial officially comes to an end, a more detailed report will be presented to council and at that time they will decided whether or not do place the facility at the park next year.
