Traffic stop results in charges

On August 12th at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Armstrong Street North in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario.

Investigation revealed that the driver was driving while under suspension and did not have insurance on the vehicle.

As a result, Nakia VANTYGHEM, a 44-year-old St Thomas resident, has been charged with the following:

Driving While Under Suspension (two counts), contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act; and

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The vehicle of the accused was impounded for 7 days.

The accused has been released on Summons’ and is scheduled to attend the Provincial Offences Court on September 19, 2019, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
